Children enroll in elementary schools in the first April following their
sixth birthdays and they have 6 years of elementary school education. The
number of elementary schools in Fukui prefecture is as follows; 1 national
elementary school, 224 public ones, and 1 private one with the total number
of 226 (as of May 1, 2002).
Children enroll junior high schools in April in the year when they graduate
from their elementary schools and they have 3 years of junior high school
education. The number of junior high schools in Fukui Prefecture is as
follows; 1 national junior high school, 82 public ones, and 4 private ones
with the total number of 87.
Among special schools for educating handicapped children are schools for
the blind, schools for the deaf and mute, and schools for the disabled.
Some elementary schools and junior high schools provide classes for the
handicapped where education with a curriculum similar to those in elementary,
junior high, and high schools is conducted with due considerations to various
types of disabilities. The number of special schools in Fukui Prefecture
is as follows; 1national school for the disabled, 9 prefectural school
for the disabled, 1 prefectural school for the blind, and 1 prefectural
school for the deaf and mute with the total number of 12.
小学校には、満6才を過ぎた最初の4月から入学し、6年間の小学校教育を行います。県内の小学校数は、国立1、公立224、私立1の計226校です。(平成14年5月1日現在)
中学校には、小学校を卒業した年の4月から入学し、3年間の教育を行います。県内の中学校数は、国立1、公立82、私立4の計87校です。
障害児教育のための特殊諸学校は、盲・ろう・養護学校があります。特殊学級が設置されている小・中学校もあります。そこでは障害に配慮した上で、小・中・高等学校と同様な教育が行なわれています。国立の養護学校1、県立の養護学校9、県立の盲学校1、県立のろう学校の計12校です。
