　【 What is the JET Programme? ＪＥＴプログラムとは】

JET Programme is a short title of "The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme" which aims at promoting not only mutual understanding between Japan and other nations but also internationalization of regional areas in Japan through the effort to enhance international exchange in regional areas as well as foreign language teaching. This programme has been conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR). The types of work involved in this program are a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) who is engaged in international exchange activities, an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) who works as a language instructor in junior high schools or in high schools, and a Sports Exchange Advisor (SEA) who is engaged in international exchange activities in regional areas through various kinds of sports. Recruitment and selection of applicants for these activities are held in the applicants' respective countries. 外国語教育の充実と地域レベルの国際交流を通じ、日本と諸外国との相互理解と地域の国際化の推進を図るための「語学指導等を行う外国青年招致事業」（The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme ）の略称で、総務省、外務省、文部科学省及び財団法人自治体国際化協会（ＣＬＡＩＲ）の協力の下に実施しています。職種は、国際交流活動に従事する国際交流員（ＣＩＲ）、中学校や高校において語学指導に従事する外国語指導助手（ＡＬＴ）及び地域においてスポーツを通じた国際交流活動に従事するスポーツ国際交流員（ＳＥＡ）があります。参加者の募集・選考は、自分が国籍を有する日本大使館で行なわれます。詳細については、外務省ＪＥＴプログラムホームページをご覧下さい。
