  <Traffic Infraction Notification System

When committing minor traffic offenses such as ignoring traffic lights, speeding (not more than 30km/h over the speed limit) or driving in the wrong lane, you may be stopped by the police. At that time, the police officer will issue you a traffic ticket and deposit slip. Under the Traffic Infraction Notification System each driver is given a total of 15 points on their license. One or several points will be subtracted from the license depending on the degree of the violation. Payment of the HANSOKUKIN must be made within 1 week at a post office or bank. Please do not forget the deposit slip. The HANSOKUKIN is not a fine, nor is it a judicial procedure, but an administrative procedure. The money that you have to pay is called traffic infraction fee. If you pay the traffic infraction fee within the given period, you will be exempted from judgement in a criminal or family court. Otherwise, you will be subject to judgement in a criminal court.
